Tuesday, March 17, 2020 — Cancelled

The SVC rehearsal is cancelled for this Tuesday, March 17, due to safety reasons surrounding the coronavirus. Please continue to look for more information and news via this website, email, and Facebook.

We remain optimistic that the show will go on in May.  We do have nine rehearsals left and perhaps we can implement some sort of additional online singing ideas that are “virus free”.

In either event let’s continue to socialize via online and keep the SVC buzz going.

Stay healthy and we hope to see you all soon!

In the meantime, here is a backing track for our “Mamma Mia” medley. The very end is a track I added on for “Super Trooper”, from when I did this medley with the high school singers. Have fun singing with the full instrumentation!

Message from Jenn, regarding practicing at home, online

Greetings!
Even though we’re not meeting on Tuesday, I would encourage you to pull out your music, fire up the SVC practice tracks, and focus on the pieces on which you may need a little more time. With the uncertainty of when our next rehearsal will be held, we hope you can spend some time during the week preparing for our concerts.

  • Above, we have posted a backing track to our “Mamma Mia” medley. Have fun singing along to the full instrumentation! The very end of the track is Super Trooper, because I added that song in the last time I did this medley with one of my groups (the high school).
  • Tenors and Basses- definitely spend time on “Mr. Bass Man”! That piece will be so fun but ONLY if we are 100% fluent on all our lyrics!
  • We have neglected “Getting to Know You” for the last few weeks, so all singers, please spend time on this one as well.
  • “Old Joe Clark” is another one which is quick, in need of GREAT diction, and we need to have mostly memorized in order to keep the energy going.
  • We’ve been making good progress on “Opening Up”- spend some time on that one so we can keep it going! Remember Broadway diction and full singing for this one. Feel it in 2 instead of 4 and you’ll get the right groove going. This song should be energetic and bright.

That’s our “at home” rehearsal plan for this week. Stay well and let us know if you need help with anything!
Musically yours,
Jenn
